Huwald G. Hagendorff, age 78 of Mecosta, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at his home. He was born October 30, 1933 in Germany, the son of Karl and Johanna (Oestreich) Hagendorff. He was raised in the Lutheran Church. Huwald was honorably discharged after serving in the United States Marine Corps. He moved to the Mecosta area in 1976 where he made his home. Huwald retired from Ford Motor Company in the late 1980's after 30 years of service. He is survived by 2 sisters Ruth (Robert) Stephens of Mecosta and Hannelore (Hugo) Hamer of Dearborn; a niece, Christine (David) Shrewsbury of Milford; 6 great nieces and nephews, Erich, Kurtis, Kalvin and Chelsea Shrewsbury all of Milford, Rurik Hamer of TN and Dustin Hamer of Alpena. Huwald was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Detlef Hamer. Memorial services will take place 11:00 a.m. January 21st at the Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Mecosta with Pastor Paul H. Schneider officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Huwald's name to the Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Mecosta or the Morton Township Library in Mecosta.
