Howard W. Doxtater Jr., age 70, of Paris passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in Grand Rapids. Howard was born on December 10, 1946 in Grand Rapids to Howard and Betty (Cook) Doxtater Sr. He graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1966. Howard worked at Ferris as a custodian. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was known to have a good sense of humor and was generous with people when they needed it the most. Howard is survived by two children, Becky (Lenny) Vaughan and Matt (Jodi) Doxtater both of Big Rapids; five grandchildren, Jenni, Brett, Olivia, Brynn and Jace; two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Zoey; eight siblings, Elaine Bradley, Betty (Larry) VanSolkema, Stephen (Joyce) Doxtater, Merry (Timothy) Hitchens, Donna (Steve) Collins, Beverly Sadam, Doreen Hansen and Mark (Teri) Doxtater and many extended family, nieces, nephews and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Doxtater; parents, Howard and Betty; daughter, Suzanne Bos; son Billy Doxtater and a grandson, Jonathan. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with the greeting friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.
