Hilma "Mem" Hatchew, 72, of Big Rapids passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2007. She was born on May 4, 1935 in Paris, MI to Herman and Hilma (Englund) Olson. After graduating high school she married Philip Hatchew on June 26, 1954 and settled in Big Rapids. Hilma enjoyed her beloved cat, Cleo, antiques, going to yard sales, collecting dolls and spending time with her family. Hilma worked hard to raise a family and run Phil's Auto Parts alongside her husband. Surviving is her devoted husband, Phil, Her 5 children: Danny (special friend Kim Dennis, Sue (Don) Sack, Kevin (DeMar), Brian (special friend Sandy Carey), and Rex (Laurie) all of Big Rapids 7 Grandchildren: Danny, Alan, Kacy Gillies (fianc Todd Rohn), Raychelle, Jaclynn, Jenna and Christa Hatchew One step granddaughter; Tina (Chad) Schappa and two step great grandchildren; Ethan and Kylee Schappa of Grand Rapids. Two sisters; Violet (Robert) Depew and Dorothy Muse. Funeral services will take place 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Hilma's name may be made to the Humane Society or Mecosta County Medical Center Home Health Care.
