Herman P. Scharlow age 84 of Big Rapids passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Metron of Big Rapids. He was born May 29, 1922 in Reed City to Paul and Ida (Josens) Scharlow. Herman graduated from Reed City High School. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after serving during WWII. On March 16, 1977 Herman married Emma Herring in Big Rapids. He was a member of the Morley American Legion Post and he worked for the City of Big Rapids at the Water Filtration Plant for 20 years. Herman enjoyed fishing, riding his bike and spending time at the restaurant with his dear friends. Holiday's with all the family together will be memories never forgotten and holiday's together in the future will never be the same. Herman will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 29 years Emma 15 children: Mike, Gary, Robin, Jon, Bryan, Mark, Pat, Cheryl, Vickie, Karen, Stacie, Sam, Seldon, Sharlene and Sherryl, 96 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents Herman was preceded in death by two sons Garrow and Scott and two grandson Mark II and Scotty. The family will greet friends and family on Friday from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. and from Noon on Saturday until funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
