Helen Jean Varcoe, age 91, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 at Vista Spring in Wyoming, MI. She was born May 31, 1923 in Big Rapids the daughter of Charles and Ilau (London) Pfistner. Helen was honorably discharged from the United States Army serving during World War II. She made her home in Middletown, NY (just outside of New York City) for over 65 years. Helen was employed as a supervisor for Avon Products Incorporated and retired after 30 years of service. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Allen Varcoe who passed away on November 26, 1992. Helen is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Bruce Peterson officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Burial will be at Martiny Township Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the United States Army.
