Helen Anna Shore, 89, went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2016 in Big Rapids. She was born March 9, 1927 in Stanwood to Albert and Naomi Hess. Helen was an operator and dispatcher at Michigan Bell/AT&T, in both Big Rapids and Grand Rapids, and retired in 1993 after almost 40 years of service. She was a hard-working, devoted mother who provided for her family at a time when most mothers didnt work outside the home. In the last 20 years, Helen discovered a love of airplane travel and took many trips to California and a much-cherished trip to Hawaii.

She is survived by one son, Brian (Sharon) Shore, of Chicago, Illinois; one daughter, Dr. Karen Shore, of Oakland, California; and one grandson, Sam, of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Roger Shore; her husband, John Shore; her parents; and five siblings. Helen will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with the family greeting friends one hour prior from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Ladner Cemetery in Rogers Heights.
