Helen Merva, age 95 of Mecosta, passed away peacefully, Monday September 24, 2007. She was born December 17, 1911 in New York the daughter of William and Veronica Gorski. She married Paul Merva and together they made their home in New York where Helen worked as a telephone switchboard operator. Soon after her husband's death in 1964, Helen made her home with her daughter Bea and her family in New York. In 1971 the entire family moved to Mecosta and became permanent residents. Helen was a devout Catholic her entire life and a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Remus. She was truly a holy woman who possessed a profound devotion to the Blessed Mother. She is survived by her loving daughter; Beatrice and her husband John Mulcahy of Mecosta Her three grandchildren, who affectingly named their grandmother, "Bee Be Mommie" Debra Mulcahy of Jenison John (Lori) Mulcahy of Louisville, KY Tim (Ann) Mulcahy of Greenville and 5 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by; a son, Paul Jr., a sister, Sophie and two brothers; Barney and George. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 26th at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Remus with Father Don Lomasiewicz officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the Church one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Remus. Memorial contributions in Helens name may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
