Helen D. Jewell, age 52, formerly of Stanwood, Michigan, died Thursday, January 4, 2024 in St. George, Utah. She was born January 7, 1971 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the daughter of Dennis and Opal (Brumley) Jewell. Helen loved to spend time with family and friends. She could start a conversation with anyone and just adored people, babies and all pets. She moved to Kanab, Utah in 2008 with her husband after falling in love with Kanab area and the desert. She will be missed by all her neighbors, friends and those who loved her. She is survived by her beloved husband of 16 years, Michael Hicks of Kanab, Utah; mother, Opal Jewell; siblings, Opal Bond, Sharon (Mark) Zimmerman, Shelly (Bill) Radke, Gary (Violet) Jewell, Dennis (Denny) Jewell Jr., Donald Jewell, step-daughter, Amanda (Aaron) Erspamer; grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob; several nieces and nephews. Helen was very proud to be the Godmother of her niece Amber. Helen was preceded in death by her father Dennis and brother, Charles Jewell. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help pay for funeral expenses. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with visitation an hour prior. Helen will be laid to rest at Ladner Cemetery.
