Harry L. Gardner age 88, lifelong resident of Barryton, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids. He was born October 17, 1920 the son of Harrison E. and Beulah M. (Williams) Gardner. Harry graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School. He married Dorothealea C. Adams on October 20, 1962 and together they made their home in Barryton. Harry owned and operated an active farm as well as being the parts and service manager at Navarre Ford Motor Sales in Barryton for many years. He was a very involved member of the Barryton Community; always working to make Barryton a better place to live and raise your children. Harry served on both the Barryton and Chippewa Hills School Boards for many years. He was a longtime member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Barryton. Harry will be missed by many friends and his loving family including his wife, Dorothy of Barryton, Son, David (Christine) Gardner of Big Rapids, Daughter, Marlyn Gardner of Barryton, 5 grandchildren, Taylor, Anna, Stacey, Chelsea and Ryan, 2 brothers, R J (Nina) Gardner of Barryton, Harrison Jr. (Jo Ann) Gardner of Saline, A sister, Frances Odiorne of Comstock Park, Daughter-in-law, Tonya Mae Gardner of Laveen, AZ, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Harry was preceded in death by a son, Daniel in 2002, 3 sisters, Maxine Crawley, Evelyn Hatfield, Arbelle Archer and a young brother, Freddie. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Reverend David Jewell officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at Brown Cemetery in Barryton.
