Harold Arthur Pickell, age 84, of Evart passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Country Care AFC in Barryton. He was born May 29, 1925 to Ralph and Martha Pickell in Horton, MI where he was raised. In 1947 Harold married Leah Lytal and they made their home and raised their family in Pinckney. After retiring in 1988, from Summit Products in Brighton where he had worked as a machinist, he moved to his current home on Hicks Lake in Evart. Harold enjoyed fishing and feeding the birds. He was a daily patron of the Lamplighter Caf in Evart. When out on his daily walk he took pleasure in feeding the horse he befriended apples as he passed by. Harold was a strong willed, stubborn, hardworking man who often worked three jobs to put his family first. Even when his health declined he maintained his independence and didn't want to impose on his family. He is survived by three children; Michael (Elva) Pickell of Cement City, James Pickell of Pinckney and Mary (Kelly) Groomes of Brighton who will treasure all the good stories they have of their beloved father, seven grandchildren; Mike Pickell II, Bridgette, Autum, Tiffney, Joseph and Amber Pickell and Melody Groomes, two great-grandchildren; Tashia and Kyleigh. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Leah, sons; Ralphie and Harold Pickell, two sisters and one brother. Cremation has taken place through the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
