Harold Ralph Harrington, 102, of Barryton passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011 at MCMC in Big Rapids. He was born on November 17, 1908 in Ypsilanti to the late William and Margaret (Hogan) Harrington. Harold graduated from Ypsilanti Central High School in 1930. In 1936 Harold married Anna Elnora Barnes and they made their home and raised their four daughters in Ypsilanti. He was employed as a gas station attendant for 36 years in the Ypsilanti area. Harold moved from Ypsilanti to Barryton in 1971. Harold cherished his home and his Meme Now's car. Some of the many hobbies Harold enjoyed were: taking his walks in Barryton, watching his soap operas and the game show network as well as watching and playing sports. Harold liked to dance when he was able and loved getting cookies on Thursdays from the "Cookie Lady" (Betty Balcer). Harold considered it a great honor to be the Grand Marshall of the 2010 Barryton Days Parade. He was also believed to be the oldest living resident in the Barryton area. He is survived by 3 daughters, Mary Wilcoxen of Barryton, Shirley Lambert of Ypsilanti, Beverly (Leeon) Spragg of Ypsilanti; 8 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends Kelly and Glen of Evart. Besides his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife Anna in 1987; daughter Evelyn Harrington in 1997; 2 sisters, Cecil Coxford and Fern Lambert; a brother Roy Harrington. The family will greet friends on Sunday at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and one hour prior to Monday's service. Funeral services for Harold will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Doherty officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Flake Cemetery in Barryton. Memorial donations in Harold's name can be made to the family.
