Harland A. "Duney" Snider Jr., age 57 of Weidman, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 with his family by his side at home. He was born November 11, 1956 in Germany, the son of Harland L. and Vera (Winstanley) Snider. Duney grew up traveling the world with his family and later graduated from Chippewa Hills High School. Music was his life and he played in various bands throughout his musical career. Duney was a talented musician and an incredible drummer. Recently he was employed by the Mecosta County Commission on Aging as a driver taking citizens to doctor appointments throughout the community. Duney loved his dog Tippy, who went everywhere with him. He enjoyed the outdoors by walking Tippy on his property and fishing. Duney was a very honest, hardworking, entertaining person that liked to help people. Harland loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Brandon Richardson; four siblings, Paul Snider of Mt. Pleasant, Carl (Debra) Snider of Shepherd, JoAnn Snider of Lansing and SueAnn (Harold) Pears of Mt. Pleasant; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Duney was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Gary Bryan officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time service begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Strong Cemetery in Barryton. Memorial contributions may be made in Harland's name to the family to be put in a trust for his son, Brandon.
