Obituary

Grover W. "Bud" Cook, age 82 of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 4, 2017 in Florida. He was born October 8, 1934 in Gladwin. Bud moved to Big Rapids at the age of fourteen. He worked several jobs throughout his life; including 25 years at Denham Manufacturing and 25 years at Reith Riley Construction. Bud was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1957. He married Alice Galster on July 1, 1961 in Fremont and together they raised their family in Big Rapids. Bud loved the outdoors and many of the sports that it offered. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and golfing; however, his favorite pastime was spending time and playing activities with his grandchildren. Bud is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Cook of Big Rapids; two daughters, Janine and Karen both of Big Rapids; two sons, Jim of Stanwood and Steve (Diana) of Big Rapids; six grandchildren, Justin, Tucker, Miranda, Johnny, Jordan, and Leah. He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven siblings. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids with Reverend Rebecca Morrison officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, March 10th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
