Grace E. Robinson, age of 84, formerly a longtime resident of Barryton, died at Prestige Centre in Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, with her daughters at her side. She resided there for the past six years while battling dementia.
Grace was born July 30, 1936, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Walter A. and Ruth (Penrod) Nordblad.
Grace's family relocated to southern Michigan in her youth. She often shared fond memories of her time living at Eagle Lake in Paw Paw. Grace worked as a switchboard operator before marrying her first husband, Earl Bush, in Ingham County. They eventually made their home in Barryton, Michigan. Earl passed away in 1969, and Grace later married Jack Robinson, also of Barryton.
After raising her family Grace re-entered the workforce, cooking for Matrix Software, Mystic Lake Youth Camp, and Altercare Senior Living. She served as the Barryton Senior Meal Site Coordinator and worked at Wexford County Recycle before retiring from the Mecosta County Senior Center, Meals on Wheels.
Grace's greatest joy in life was as a mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Along with cooking, baking, cleaning, and canning, she enjoyed working outside in the yard, in her garden and flowerbeds. She took great pleasure in the beauty of nature, and was fascinated with watching and photographing the changing sky. She was also an avid bird watcher. Grace loved the beach, swimming, and walking. Her favorite memories were spent with friends and family, snowmobiling, sledding, hosting bbq's, and playing cards. Grace's independent nature, sense of humor, love of children, dogs, and dancing remained strong throughout her dementia.
Grace is survived by her two daughters, Colleen Bush of Barryton and Shelly Randle of Mt. Pleasant; two grandsons, Leroy (Lelah) Langworthy of Mt. Pleasant, Jack (Michaela) Langworthy of Lake; beloved stepchildren, Christy "Cricket" Jamieson of Barryton, Paul "Pete" Robinson of Barryton and step daughter-in-law, Denise Robinson of Newberry; grandchildren, Jayson, Stacey, Kristyn, Kari, Christopher, Paul Jr., Audra, Jacquelin; great-grandchildren Cody, Destiny, Hunter, Preston, Caden, Ethan, Marissa, Lyla, Holly, Isabell, Jade, Rosalee, Shyann, Justin, Jacob; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husbands; Earl Bush and Jack Robinson, son Nathaniel Bush; grandsons; Michael Langworthy, Chad Jamieson, and Adam Jamieson, stepson, Kim Robinson; step son-in-law, John Jamieson, and siblings; Jeannette McGuire, Marie Hellwig, Walter Nordblad, June Grudzinski and Dolly Nordblad.
A graveside service will take place at Flake Cemetery in Barryton at a later date.
