Gordon J. Riebow, age 66 of Stanwood, passed away of natural causes at his home, Friday, October 31, 2008. He was born April 14, 1942 in Big Rapids the son of Fritz and Norma (Fraser) Riebow. Gordon was a lifelong resident of Stanwood and graduated from Morley-Stanwood High School in 1960. He married Diana Sova on July 20, 1968. He worked many years for the village of Stanwood and was a supervisor in the Custodial Department at Ferris State University retiring in 2002. Gordon was an active resident of the Stanwood Community. He was a Volunteer Fireman for the Mecosta-Austin Fire Department and was a member of the Northland United Methodist Church. Gordon will always be remembered as a "Really Good Guy" by his many friends and as a loving father and grandfather by his devoted family whose members include;his three children; Nancy (Rick) Moore of Morley, Fred (Stacy) Riebow of Stanwood, John (Corri) Riebow of Paris, five Grandchildren; Aaron Moore, Kyle, Josie, Diana and Imogen Riebow and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Diana on April 5, 1995, a sister Betty Fyvie in 2003 and an infant brother Fred Riebow. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with burial at the Stanwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Gordy's name may be given to either the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Northland United Methodist Church in Stanwood.
