Gloria R. Patterson, age 88 of Reed City, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, August 17, 2024. She was born February 22, 1936 in Hersey the daughter of Hazel L. Carter. Gloria grew up in Hersey and during her youth worked at The Osceola Inn in Reed City. She married Don Patterson on July 17, 1954 and together they made their home in Reed City. Gloria joined her husband in his Floral Business where she worked for many years and was affectionately known as the "Corsage Queen." She was a longtime member and supporter of the Reed City United Methodist Church. Gloria had a sharp wit and knew how to deliver a good one-liner. She loved sports of all kinds, playing golf, bowling, a lively card game and an occasional casino trip with her sister Helen. Every year Gloria looked forward to growing and tending to her flower gardens. She is survived by her three children; Joleen (Dale) Golden of Lakeland, FL, Robert Patterson of Big Rapids, Brad (Dawn) Patterson of Morley; four grandchildren, Shawn (Mel Bourne) Golden of Texas, Jennifer (Andy) Baker of Lakeland, FL, Amanda (Matt) Kincade of Lakeland, FL, Cayla (Rob Redinger) Patterson of Portage; nine great-grandchildren, Elli, Caden, Mia, Lilli, Drew and Gabbi Baker, Mallory, Parker, and Harrison Kincade all of Lakeland, FL; two sisters, Helen Engstrom of Big Rapids, Joyce Laub of Fishers, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Don Patterson, a daughter-in-law, Deb Patterson, a brother, Abe Carter, two sisters, Doris and her husband Melvin Ryan, Naomi and her husband Ray Watkins and a brother-in-law, Richard Engstrom. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with her son-in-law, Pastor Dale Golden officiating. Gloria will be laid to rest at the Woodland Cemetery in Reed City. The family will greet friends at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids on Thursday, August 22 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Friday.
