Glenn P. Holt, age 88 of Rodney, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was born September 18, 1927 on the family farm in Rodney, the son of Benjamin and Velma (Louckes) Holt. Glenn graduated from Barryton Agricultural High School in 1946. He enlisted into the United States Army, honorably serving his country during the Korean Conflict. On June 20, 1959 he married Carol Cox at the Church of God in Big Rapids and together they raised their family on the farm in Rodney. Glenn was employed by Austin Gas Fields for 33 years before he retired. He was a member of the Chippewa Lake Community Church, the Mecosta VFW Post 2335, and the Big Rapids Masonic Lodge #171. Glenn loved to work on the farm and in his barn, ride the tractors, and take care of his crops. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and collecting hammers. Glenn will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carol Holt of Rodney; three children, Glenda (Jim) Montague of Canadian Lakes, Terry (Bonnie) Holt of Reed City, and Laurie (Doug) Walsh of Mattawan; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Kurt, Summer, Robert, Gne, Corey, Nina, and Mara; eight great-grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Shelby, Zander, Holli, Lily, Embry, and Grady; a sister-in-law, Gloria Holt of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marge (Paul) Johnson; brothers, Tom Holt and Jack (Phyllis) Holt; son, Steven Holt; and grandson, Andy Holt. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Roger Bennett officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 26th at the funeral home. Glenn will be laid to rest at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids.
