Glenn B. Cortez, age 78 of Stanwood, passed away Monday, October 07, 2013 at Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital. He was born November 1, 1934 in Detroit, the son of Jesus and Maria (Bermudez) Cortez. Glenn was honorably discharged from the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He was a life member of the VFW. Glenn Retired from the Garden City Police department as an officer in 1981 and moved to Stanwood. He is survived by his wife Jan Cortez of Stanwood; children Susanne (Richard Geik) Tyler of South Bend, IN, Linda (Michael) Bebout of Temecula, CA., Thomas Cortez of Detroit, Walter Cortez of Evart; step-son, Michael Bruce of New Mexico; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Glenn Cortez Jr., two brothers, Jess Cortez and Rick Cortez. Memorial contributions in Glenn's name may be made to the Mecosta County Commission on Aging. There will be no public services.
