Glen W. Spedoske, age 83 of Stanwood, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids. He was born December 5, 1926 in Mecosta Township the son of Frank and Mabel (Andres) Spedoske. Glen married the former Winifred Sharp on January 18, 1947 and they made their home on the family farm where he was born. Glen worked for the railroad and later owned and operated "Speeds Campground and Storage" at Brower Park for 35 years. The couple wintered in Okeechobee, Fl for over 30 years where Glen could continue to enjoy his lifelong passion for fishing. Glen will be forever remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 63 years, Winifred; his 7 children, Sharon (Boyd) Rusco of Muskegon, Barry (Judy) Spedoske of Ravenna, Valerie (William) Holcomb of Grand Rapids, Linda (Joseph) Tomasunas of Pierson, Glenda (James) Fryman of Wyoming, MI, Lee Spedoske of Stanwood, Randy (Elizabeth) Spedoske of Stanwood; 32 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and dear friend Marcy Covey. Besides his parents, Glen was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Spedoske; a sister Norma Thibodeau; 2 grandchildren, Jill Marie Pixley and Robert Spedoske. A memorial service will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 26th at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 21291 Seventeen Mile Road, Big Rapids. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Glens name may be given to the World Wide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses.
