Giulietta A. "Judy" Irvin, age 83 of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at her home. She was born in Verona, Italy on July 22, 1937, the daughter of Umberto and Giovanna (Della Mano) Fainelli. Judy met her husband, Dale Holland in Italy where they were married. They moved to the United States shortly after, Judy was 18 years old, and sadly Dale was killed in action during the Vietnam War. Judy met Sidney Irvin and they married in 1970 and Judy raised their family in Ohio while Sidney was stationed in Greenland with the United States Air Force. After Sidney was retired from the military, they moved to Big Rapids as he began employment with ANR Pipeline. Sidney passed away December 26, 1987. Judy had an infectious personality; she was kind, caring, and welcoming. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, and drinking strong coffee with her friends. Judy was a member of the Mecosta County Historical Society, the General Federation Womens Club Big Rapids, and the Founder of Big Rapids Investment Club. She is survived by her partner and confidant of 22 years, Bruce Parker of Big Rapids; son, Frank Irvin of Louisville, Kentucky; two brothers, Giordano and Father Giorgio Fainelli both of Verona, Italy; sister, Lina Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; special friends, Drs. Sushila and Sudhir Rao and Ena Dakkuri; and her extended family and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Marin Irvin. Due to COVID-19, a private funeral service will be held with Father Michael Burt from St. Mary St. Paul Catholic Community, where Judy was a member, officiating. Judy will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
