Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Gilbert D. Schrock, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the age of 77. He was born August 31, 1941 in Union Twp., Isabella Co., MI the son of Arthur and Annabel (Smith) Schrock. Gilbert graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School in 1959. Three years later, on September 15, 1962, he married Sharron Owens in Barryton and they made their home and raised their family in Lake. Gilbert was genuine with an energetic smile. His love of the Lord was true and when he spoke it meant something. He loved birds, airplanes, "real old" tractors and maple syrup making. Gilberts love of tinkering was instrumental in the day to day operation of GDS Enterprises, a hydraulics business he ran with his son Philip. Gilbert was also a connoisseur of fine antiquities... When Gilbert was able to take a steam engine to a show, he would. He was a member of the N.W. Michigan Engine and Thresher Club and Pioneer Power Antique Tractor and Gas Club. For numerous years he brought his engines to the Lilac Festival to steam corn and cut wood shingles for souvenirs. Gilbert was also an active supporter of the NRA. Gilbert is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Sharron; two sons, Philip (Mindy) of Lake and Paul (Jessica) of Menomonee Falls, WI; four grandchildren, Amber (Kenny) Karas, Linda (Jody) Rowland, Reese Schrock and Jaxson Schrock; four great-grandchildren, Gwen and Milo Karas, Savannah Schrock and Jody Rowland Jr. He is also survived by his church family at the Brinton Chapel and a host of extended family and friends that will not forget how much he loved and welcomed them. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Rodney. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton and one hour prior to funeral services on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services for Gilbert will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30th at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Weber officiating. Graveside services will follow at North Brinton Cemetery, Lake, MI.
