Obituary

Geraldine M. "Jeri" Williams, age 91 of Reed City, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at her home. She was born October 7, 1921 the daughter of Orlin and Sylvia (Meeker) Goodno. Jeri was raised in Barryton and was a graduate of Barryton Rural Agricultural High School. She married John "Jay" Williams on March 1, 1942 and shortly after Jay entered the Navy, serving during World War II. Following the war, Jay and Jeri lived in Big Rapids until moving to Reed City where they established, owned and operated the Reed City Dairy Queen for eleven years. Jeri then established and operated "Jeri's World of Windows" making custom draperies and window coverings for many area families. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Reed City and The Daughters of the Nile, a Shrine woman's organization. Jeri is survived by a son, Paul Williams of Reed City; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Alan Spear) Williams of Cadillac, Christian Williams of Florida, John Jay Williams II of Reed City, Michael Williams of Reed City; several nieces and nephews. Jeri was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 68 years, Jay Williams, two brothers, Alvin and Elwood Goodno. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20th at the Reed City United Methodist Church with Pastor David Stanski officiating. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, March 19th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. also at the Reed City United Methodist Church. Memorial Contributions in Jeri's name may be made to either the Liberty Baptist Church or the United Methodist Church, both of Reed City.
