Obituary

Geraldine Mae Ohls, age 86 of Remus entered into rest on Friday, February 13, 2009 at Mecosta County Medical Center. She was born on August 21, 1922 in Grand Ledge, MI to Ned and Eva (Smith) Tidd. Geraldine spent the majority of her adult life in Mecosta County where her children were raised. She loved her flowers especially her cactus and roses. Geraldine enjoyed watching the birds and looking at the stars. She opened her heart and door to everyone always with a warm smile. The music her family made brought joy to her heart- she enjoyed listening to her daughter Elly sing and hearing the music of the guitars which her son Jerry and nephew Gaylord Parks played. Geraldine was a natural caretaker and therefore welcomed any opportunity to spend time babysitting her great grandchildren Malachi and MaKayla or any other small child. A special day in her life was when she was reunited with her son Jim Blanchard, daughter Linda George and their families. She was grateful for the time she got to spend rekindling their relationship over the last several years. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, husband William H. Ohls in 1992 and a son William B. Ohls in 2006. She is survived by her children whom cherish the memories they have: Jerry Ohls of Mecosta, Jim Blanchard of East Jordan, Elly Ohls of Barryton, Linda (Gary) George of Cedar Springs, and Brenda (Jerry) Heisler of Olivet, one sister Marion Peake of Rockville, MD, 8 grandchildren who will continue to treasure the memories and time they got to spend with their grandmother: Rheanna (Rudy Espinoza) Ohls, Ken, Joey and Heather Blanchard, Bethany (Jason) Passick, Michael Newland, Ryne and Ty Clark, 3 great grandchildren: Malachi and MaKayla Espinoza and Austin Ford son-in-law, Bill Newland of Bellevue, long time family friend and "son" Gaylord Parks, and many special nieces, nephews and her beloved dog Peanuts. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Daggett Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Schneider officiating. Private graveside services will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mecosta. Memorial donations in Geraldine's name may be given to the Mecosta V.F.W Post.
