Geraldine M. "Gerry" Higley, age 86 of Morley, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. She was born in Big Rapids on January 7, 1935, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Peeper) Gillette. Gerry married Lloyd E. Higley Sr. on December 9, 1950, and together they raised their nine children in Morley. She had many interests, including: flower gardening, rock collecting, puzzles, and watching Dr. Pol. Gerry looked forward to having breakfast with her friends at the Morley American Legion every morning. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Gerry will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her. She is survived by her nine children, Mike (Sandy) Higley of Reed City, Diane (Dennis) Skinner of Wakefield, Pam (Mike) Sanford of Newaygo, Steve Higley of Leroy, Karen Lyons of Big Rapids, Tim (Dawn) Higley of Hersey, Kim (Alan) Prisbe of Wakefield, Kris (Ed) Thompson of Morley, and Lloyd Higley Jr. of Morley; 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren; her special friend Bob Lancaster of Newaygo; sister-in-law, Lorraine Gillette of Massachusetts; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd Higley Sr., brother Donald Gillette, sister Lois King, son-in-law Dick Lyons, daughter-in-law Deb Higley, and grandson Steven Higley II. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2021, at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with her grandson Pastor Derrick Lyons officiating. The Funeral will take place OUTSIDE, weather permitting. Please wear a mask and social distance. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1st, at the funeral home INSIDE. Please social distance, wear a mask, and only 25 people are allowed inside at a time. Geraldine will be laid to rest with her husband Lloyd at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids.
