Gerald "Jerry" L. Wendling, age 66 of Big Rapids, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 29, 1944 in Detroit, the son of Eugene and Loraine (Snider) Wendling. Jerry graduated from Remus High School in 1963. He was blessed with many talents, two of his favorites being woodworking and music. Jerry played in several bands over the years, including his own named Musicville USA. He also enjoyed fishing, working in the yard (as long as he was on a tractor) and creating & supervising various competitions to entertain his grandkids. Jerry retired in January of 2010 after working 35 years in Big Rapids as a salesman at the same dealership now known as Gary Trimarco Automotive. He loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of almost 39 years, Kathy; 2 daughters, Stacey Stilson and Crista (Brett) Knight of Big Rapids; 4 grandchildren, Chase, Brynn and Brett Chesebro and Spencer Wilkinson; as well as his extended family and many friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will take plase 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor David Rowland officiating. The family will greet friends 2 hours prior to the Memorial Service.
