Gerald A. "Jerry" Ellison, age 63 of Stanwood went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 10, 1950 in Lakeview the son of Albert Z. "Bob" and Charlotte T. (Crame) Ellison. Jerry married Lora Dunn on July 12, 1969 at the Big Rapids Free Methodist Church. They made their home in Big Rapids where Jerry worked for Red Mill Lumber (later changing to Cash & Carry Lumber) for 14 years. He then worked for the Stanwood Co-op until establishing his own milk hauling business and moving to Stanwood in 1983. For nearly 30 years Jerry delivered milk for the Amish and local farmers to Farm Country Cheese House in Lakeview. Jerry also served as the president of Ellison Stock Yard Company, selling at the Marion auction, for the past three years. He faithfully attended the Stanwood Free Methodist Church and assisted the Mecosta County Animal Rescue and Control. Jerry will be remembered as a man who followed the words and deeds that the Lord set before him; he lived his life following the Lord's path. He passed his strong Christian beliefs onto his family who survives, including his wife, Lora Ellison of Stanwood; children, Dan (Cindy) Ellison of Stanwood, Keith (Johnna) Ellison of Chippewa Lake, Amy (Troy) Parker of Stanwood, Marks Spedoski of Stanwood; 13 grandchildren; his mother, Charlotte Ellison of Stanwood; brother, John (Sue) Holmes of Lakeview; many nieces, nephews and adopted grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Bob Ellison and a sister, Janet Bowman. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Stanwood Free Methodist Church with Pastor Ron White officiating. Burial will be at the Stanwood Cemetery. Visitations will also be at the Stanwood Free Methodist Church on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18th. Memorial contributions in Jerry's name may be given to his family.
