Gerald "Jerry" Allard, age 80 of Hersey, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 in Grand Rapids. On August 25, 1936 he was born in Detroit to Homer and Bernice (Harnden) Allard. Jerry married Johann Russell on June 19, 1968 in Mt. Clemens and they moved to Hersey in 1978. Jerry was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved to fish and enjoyed scroll saw work and making grandfather clocks for family and friends. Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years Johann; seven children, Gayle (Mike) Savocchio of Clinton Twp., Dave (Lori) Russell of Mt. Clemens, Mike (Barb) Russell of Mt. Clemens, Audrey Rehman of Reed City, Lorraine Russell of Reed City, Brian (Len) Russell of Chula Vista, CA and Denise Lodholtz of Hersey; one brother, Robert (Sally) Allard of Romeo; fifteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and treasured friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Janice Lange and Diane Read. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Parish in Reed City with Fa. Michael Hodges officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, June 7th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Philips where he was a member and one hour prior to Mass from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
