Georgia A. Augenstein, age 86 of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital. She was born July 24, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of George and Helen (Mellor) Brown. Georgia graduated from Kirkwood High School. She was a volunteer foster grandparent at the Stanwood Elementary School participating in the Eight Cap Program. Georgia enjoyed needle work, antiquing and traveling to euchre tournaments. She is survived by three children, Renee (Curt) Yerger of Morley, Susan (Bob) Huisman of South Carolina and Steven (Kathy) Brown of New York; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Don (Robin) Brown of Conneticut. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. A memorial gathering will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Green Country Church in Morley Saturday, September 6, 2014. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
