Obituary

George W. "Bill" Sigourney, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the age of 81. Bill was the second of five children and was born in Remus on May 1, 1927 to Lyle and Mary (Randall) Sigourney. On July 16, 1966 he married Marie Thomas. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, working out doors and teaching others to fish. He worked construction, farming and grain delivery. After he retired Bill still worked part time for the Barryton Co-Op until they closed the doors. He enjoyed mowing lawns and scrapping metal for exercise and just to have something to do. Bill is survived by his loving children: Tony (Cindy) Squier of Remus, Kim (Ed) Wernette of Mecosta, Beth (Terry) Leiter of Remus, Lisa (Steve) Kadwell of Barryton, Bill (Karri) Sigourney of Coleman, and Rhonda (Dennis) Traynor of Big Rapids, two sisters: Jean Wyant of Remus and Connie (Carl) McQueen of Remus, several nieces and nephews, beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and ex wife Marie Thomas. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by: his stepfather; Arthur Sniff, brother; Bob Sigourney, Sister; Eloise Gurley and a grandson Alexander Squier. The family will greet friends at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton on Saturday, October 11th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. concluding with a time to share memories of Bill from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
