Geneva Pearl (Ramsey) Brady May 2, 1916 "" May 21, 2007 Geneva Brady died May 21, 2007 at age 91 of pancreatic cancer. She was born in Wellington, Kansas on May 2, 1916 to Ernest Clyde and Stella (Spear) Ramsey, but at age 3 moved to Iowa with her family where she graduated Newton (IA) High School in 1934. She later enrolled in Olive Branch Mission Training School in Chicago (IL), receiving training in Christian ministry while working among the indigent. Graduating in 1939, Geneva then attended Spring Arbor (MI) Junior College. There she met Rev. Kenneth E. Brady. They married upon her graduation in 1941 and together served the Coopersville, Evergreen, Mesick, Saranac, Hoytville, Portland, Grand Ledge, Alma, Barryton and Millbrook (MI) churches of the Free Methodist Church. Meanwhile, she continued her education, receiving a BS degree in elementary education from Western Michigan University (1964). She began teaching in Alma (MI) in 1961 and then taught first grade at the Barryton Elementary School (Barryton, MI) from 1963 to 1981. Upon retirement, she taught at the Community Free Methodist Church School until moving to Traverse City in 1997 to be near her son. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (1972), three siblings: Thomas Ramsey, Helen Ramsey, and Dorothy (Ramsey) Tolle and their children. She is survived by her four children and eight grandchildren: Donald Brady (Kathleen Hering) of Colonia, NJ and his children, Derek (Tanya) of Chesapeake, VA and Andrea Hampton (Chris) of Louisville, KY; Ellen Brady (Leon Hammond) of Salt Lake City, UT and their son, Mark Hammond; James Brady (Carolyn) of Traverse City, MI and their children, Eric (Cara) of Loveland, CO, Angela Jennings of Hersey, MI and Amy Buchholz (Glenn) of Reed City, MI; and Kathleen Scott (Margaret Bley) of St. Louis, MO and her children, Sean (Danielle Livingston) and Cassandra, also of St. Louis. MO. There are also ten great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton between 2:00 and 4:00 pm and between 7:00 and 9:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2007. The body will be moved to the Barryton Community Free Methodist Church on Saturday morning, May 26 where it will also be available for viewing for an hour prior to funeral services at 11:00 am. The church is located at 4395 20 Mile Road, Barryton, MI. Interment will be in Flake Cemetery in Barryton immediately after the service. Following interment, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
