Obituary

Garry L. Braden, age 61 of Big Rapids, passed away Thursday, September 06, 2007. He was born October 1, 1945 in Barryton. Garry was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He was employed for General Dynamics and his job took him to many countries. While working in Egypt he met and married Nawal Ramzy. While living in Egypt they had their first child. They left Egypt and moved to Reed City where Garry worked for Yoplait. Again work called the family back to Egypt, where their second child was born. The family returned to Michigan and made their home in Big Rapids and Garry resumed working for Yoplait until his health failed. He was a member of St. Paul's Campus Parish in Big Rapids. Garry was a loving and devoted husband and father who enjoyed watching his son Daniel play hockey for the Big Rapids Ice Dogs, listening to his daughter Sandra play the flute and treasured the time spent with his granddaughter, Ella Nawal. Garry loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and barbequing for his many friends. He is survived by his loving wife; Nawal of Big Rapids 3 Children; Richard Braden of Grand Rapids Sandra Braden currently a student at Grand Valley State University Daniel Braden at home with his mother One granddaughter, Ella Nawal Braden His father; Donald Wernette of Mecosta A brother; Edward (Kim) Wernette of Mecosta 3 sisters; Terry (Jim) Addington of Mecosta Mary (Bill) Schoner of Rodney Betty (David) Babian of Dewitt and several nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 10th at St. Paul's Campus in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le officiating. The family will greet friends at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids on Saturday evening, Sept 8th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, Sept. 9th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
