Garold E. Wible, 73 passed away December 10, 2009 at his home in Big Rapids. He was born February 9, 1936, in Bluffton, Indiana to Edward and Opal Wible. He proudly served two years in the Army as a paratrooper during the Korean War. Garold moved to Big Rapids from Grand Rapids in 1973. He was a member of the American Legion Post #98 where he served as the past commander. Garold was also a member of Eagles Aerie #2535 and AmVet Post #1941 both of Big Rapids. Garold loved camping, fishing and most of all talking and trading fish stories with everyone he met. Eating was a main event at the camp site where all were welcome to share. He will be missed greatly by his family, close friends and everyone that knew him. Garold is survived by 5 sons: Ken, Doug, Jerry, Bryan and Tad, 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, a brother Ed, sister Sandy Hillman, sister in law Luana, brother-in-law Larry Hillman and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Garold was preceded in death by his son Rick, wife Joan Eastway-Wible-Fountain and decades long companion Norma Bosack. Funeral services for Garold will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with the family greeting friends two hours prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Pastor John Bookshaw will officiate. There will be military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #98 Firing Squad. Memorial donations in Garold's name can be made to the Big Rapids AmVets.
