Gail Annette Smith age 48 of Mt. Pleasant went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, July 29, 2007 at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. On March 24, 1959 in Lakeview, Michigan Jack and Delores (Root) Smith welcomed a baby girl who was named Gail. The name Gail means "lively" . Gail grew up and was the very essence of lively. She was strong willed, determined, very caring, giving and gentle. As a young girl Gail was a baton twirler at Miss Jeanie's Hi Steppers School. They participated at a Memorial Day Parade with Senator Gerald Ford in Cedar Springs. She was a 1982 graduate of Chippewa Hills. Gail enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics. She would run track, bowl, and snow shoe. Gail was actively involved in dog obedience training and horse back riding with the Mecosta County 4H Club. She was employed at MOARC for 20 years before she was completely disabled by Tuberous Sclerosis. Gail will be dearly missed by her parents Jack and Delores Smith of Mecosta and several Aunts, Uncles, cousins and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by two brother's Randy Scott and Bradley Keith Smith and her grandparents; Dale and Edna Root and Earle and Berneice Smith. Funeral services will take place Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at New Hope United Methodist Church (7296 9 Mile Road, Mecosta) with Pastor Vic Charnley officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
