Frieda Lucille Manske age 94 of Remus, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 17, 2013. She was born January 24, 1919 in Remus to Peter and Bertha (Cook) Diehm. She graduated from Remus High School and then moved to Detroit where she was a comptroller for General Motors. While living in Detroit she was roommates with her sister Ruth until she met and married Carl Manske at the age of 42. Together they attended the Detroit Redeemer and Epiphany Lutheran Churches, where she was in the choir. Upon Carl's retirement in 1972 they moved back to Remus where she has resided ever since. Frieda and Carl spent their retirement years traveling the world. Frieda was an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remus. She was a gifted soloist with a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. Frieda had the opportunity to sing with the Detroit Symphony. She also helped with the Ladies Aide, supporting her church and other various charities. Frieda was a talented seamstress. Frieda is survived by her nephews, James (Karen) Diehm of Remus and Thomas (Barbara) Diehm of Remus; a niece, Joanne (David) Brownlee of Tennessee; her great nieces and great nephews; and a great-great nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl on September 23, 1991; her parents; her sisters, Ruth Diehm and Christina Eldred; and a brother William P. Diehm and his wife, Genevieve. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 19, 2013 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remus with Pastor Jonathan Voss officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. February 19th at the church. Interment will be at Wambold Cemetery in Remus in the spring.
