Franklin H. Matchett Jr., age 57 of Barryton formerly of Huntington, TX, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Grand Rapids. He was born November 23, 1955 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of Franklin and Wanda (Johnson) Matchett. Frank graduated from Huntington High School in Texas. He attended Ora Missionary Baptist Church in Texas, which he helped build. Frank had many different ventures throughout his working life including, owning his own garbage disposal company and driving truck. He was a man with many talents and he was always willing to help anyone. Frank enjoyed fishing with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Pearl Fowler of Barryton; his children, Mary (Jim) Becker of Coral, Ernest Bergman of Lakeview, Franklin Matchett III of Texas, CJ (Virginia) Matchett of Coral, Rona (Thomas) Peake of Barryton and Robert Matchett of Texas; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his father, Franklin Sr.; 3 siblings; many nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his mother; a daughter, Gabriel Simmons and a grandson, Harley Simmons. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Randy Piatt officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
