Frank W. Vel, age 77 went to be with our Lord after a courageous battle with cancer Tuesday, August 8, 2006. Survived by his loving wife Maureen, his daughters: Kimberly Spiering and Carrie (Sam Berry) Vel, step daughters Amy Paterson and Heather Miciuda, grandchildren: Cameron and Samantha Berry and Brooke Spiering, brothers: Anthony (Dorothy) Velchansky, Richard Velchansky and sister Lillian Barno. Mr. Vel was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Otilia Velchansky, brothers Joseph and Milan Velchansky and daughter Pamela Vel. Prior to moving to Canadian Lakes in 1994 Frank had a forty year career in education as a teacher and administrator in the Utica School District. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 8929 50th Ave., Remus, MI with a luncheon to follow. The family asks for donations to Gilda's Club in lieu of flowers, envelopes provided at service.
