Frank Scalici, age 80 of Big Rapids, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007. He was born December 24, 1926 in Detroit to Joseph and Josephine (Rappa) Scalici. Frank was honorably discharged from the United States Navy serving during World War II in the Pacific and European Theaters. He married Betty J. Poikey on August 31, 1947 in Warren. In 1967 they moved to Big Rapids where Frank worked as a carpenter at Ferris State University until his retirement. Frank was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and V.F.W. Post #4102 both of Big Rapids. He is survived by: His wife Betty of Big Rapids Three sons: Dennis (Carol) Scalici of Big Rapids David (Rita) Scalici of Grand Haven Dan (Ellie) Scalici of Grand Rapids Six grandchildren, nine Great-grandchildren A sister: Angeline (Richard) Kronner of Harsens Island Several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by five brothers. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1st at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Robert Garrels officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Spring interment will be at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Frank's name may be given to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Building Fund.
