Florence Loraine Pemberton, of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025 at the age of 96. She was born in Big Rapids on January 23, 1929 to Fred and Opal (Bacon) Jenkins.

A local resident all her life, Florence graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1947. She was married to Virgil Allers for 57 years, who preceded her in death. Later, Florence met William Pemberton while working at Parkview Village, where she was known as a jack-of-all-trades, or Girl Friday. Florence and William were married for 18 years.

In addition to her valued work at Parkview Village, Florence cooked at the Bowers Restaurant, decorated cakes, and held a position at Wolverine for many years. When she wasn't at work, Florence enjoyed crocheting, listening to music, and feeding the birds.

Florence is survived by her husband, William Pemberton; two children: Ardith (Richard) Slocum and David Allers; and step-son: Richard Pemberton.

Florence is preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil Allers; both parents; grandson: Pastor Phillip Rouch; and daughter-in-law: Carol Allers.

Arrangements are in the care of Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Big Rapids. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, 1:00 PM, at the funeral home. Visitation will take place two hours earlier at 11:00 AM. Florence will be buried at Pine Plains Cemetery at a later date.
