Ferna M. McIntyre, age 95 of Stanwood, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 30, 1914 in Rockford, the daughter of James and Iva (Udell) Gearing. At the age of 3, Ferna lost her father; her mother later married Dell Wilson who was a wonderful father to Ferna and the family. On April 29, 1933 Ferna married John McIntyre, they lived in Rockford until 1949 when they moved to their home on the Muskegon River near Stanwood. Ferna worked for Wolverine World Wide, Factory C in Big Rapids for over thirteen years. In her spare time she loved playing cards and bingo. Ferna was also an avid knitter and a wonderful cook. She is survived by 3 sons, Jim (Jan) McIntyre of Big Rapids, Steve (Judy) McIntyre of Sand Lake, and Gary (Susanne) McIntyre of Morley; 2 daughters, Jeannine (Richard) Conners and Linda (Robert) Wheeler both of Stanwood; a brother, Kenneth (Gigi) Wilson of Ada; a sister Betty Baldwin of Big Rapids; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a great great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ferna was preceded in death by her husband on February 20, 1993; 2 sisters, Doris Gough and Juanita Emmert. Funeral Services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Rick Blunt officiating. The family will greet friends on Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Rockford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ferna's name to the Renucci Hospitality House in association with Spectrum Health and Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.
