Fern E. Beutler, our beloved, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2007, at the age of 88. She is greatly missed. Fern was born February 4, 1919, in Coldwater Twp. to the late Earl and Lena (Sowle) St. John. In January 1946, Fern married Clayton Beutler. They made their home together in Clare, MI before moving to their current home in Coldwater Township. For nineteen years, they spent their winters at their retirement home in Zephyrhills, Florida. For a number of years, Fern and Clayton owned and operated Beutler's Grocery on the corner of Coleman and Brinton Roads. Fern was the secretary at Weidman Elementary School from 1966 to 1977. She also served on the Coldwater Township Board for many years and had been a member of the Weidman School Board. Fern was an active member of the Weidman United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the order of the Eastern Star. Fern enjoyed her family and the time they spent together. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Clayton Beutler of Lake, MI. Her children; Cliften (Maxine) Beutler of Lake, Fred Beutler of Lake, Mary Beutler of Lansing, Grandchildren: Milissa (Darryl) Block of Wyoming, MI, Christina Beutler of Weidman, Alexis Terry of Lansing, Samantha Beutler of Weidman, Joe Beutler of Weidman, Great grandchildren; Gavin and Quinn Block, Taylor Beutler and Vanessa Hernandez and several nieces and nephews Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2007 at the Weidman United Methodist Church with Pastor David Price officiating. The family will greet friends Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Weidman United Methodist Church.
