Fayerene "Faye" Zapfe, age 76 of Chippewa Lake, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at her home. She was born December 8, 1937 in Paragould, Arkansas the daughter of R. B. and Thelma (Thomason) Morgan. Faye married Jack G. Zapfe on June 29, 1956 in Flint; they made their home in the area until moving to Chippewa Lake in 1994. Faye was a devout Lutheran for over 45 years. She was a member of Mount Sinai Lutheran Church in Montrose and most recently the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. Faye was very artistic, she loved to quilt and paint in oil and acrylics. She was a member of the First Thursday Quilting Group in Remus. Faye is survived by her beloved husband of over 58 years, Jack Zapfe of Chippewa Lake; three children, Vickie Kay (Keith) Redding of Griffin, Georgia, Thomas Morgan Zapfe of Warren, David Alan (Bekki) Zapfe of Montrose; seven grandchildren, Tommy, Keturah, Austin, Jacob, Summer, Conor, Jadyn; two great-grandchildren, Graysen Thomas and Kalla Jade; two sisters, Georgia Beasley of Paragould, Arkansas, Lanell (Charles) Dunaway of Tennessee and many nieces and nephews. Faye was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14th at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Big Rapids with Pastor Tim Denney officiating. The family will greet friends on Thursday, November 13th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral home in Big Rapids. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 17th at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery in Grand Blanc. Memorial contributions in Faye's name may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Big Rapids.
