Evelyn Wallace, 94, of Big Rapids, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025 at The Brook of Big Rapids where she lived since October 2022. A celebration of life service will be held on January 25, 2025 2pm at the Big Rapids Township Hall 14212 Northland Dr. Born in Chicago on August 10, 1930 to Nels and Ruth (Yetter) Nelson. She graduated from Honor High School. She married Bob Wallace November 1950 and had six children. Evelyn worked in the Hillcrest Elementary cafeteria. She loved baking, gardening, singing and quilting. Among her adventures, tubing the Muskegon River, walking the Mackinaw Bridge, and building 7 snowmen at the age of 82. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and openly shared her faith with those around her. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed. Evelyn is survived by her children, Linnea Weis (Jerry), Gloria Wallace (Rich), Robert Wallace (Maureen), David Wallace (Connie), Lila Wallace-Jones, Tim Wallace (Michele), 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, brother Leonard (CA), and sister Nancy (AZ), as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Evelyn is preceded in death by father Nels Edwin Nelson on Jan 20, 1982; sisters Lorraine (IL) and Frances (IL); husband Robert (Bob) Wallace on Feb 7, 2005; mother Ruth Louise (Yetter) Nelson on April 18, 2005 and great-great-grandson Bentley in 2020.
