Evelyn A. Denslow of Lake passed away Monday, February 12, 2007 at her daughter's home. She was born on the family farm November 26, 1924 to Charles and Mabel (Sisco) Cummings. Evelyn was a 1943 Graduate of the Barryton Agricultural High School. She married Leo Denslow on August 18, 1944 in Barryton. Together they made their home at the farm in Sherman Twp. As a young women she worked for Harry Phillips and at the Barryton Dairy Bar. Evelyn began her career at the Barryton High School as a cook which would become her most memorable and gratifying time in her career. She touched and had a lasting influence on the students she prepared meals for in her tenure at the school. Evelyn retired from Chippewa Hills Schools as food service Supervisor. Following retirement she wintered in Florida. Evelyn was a member of the Drew Busy Bee's and the Barryton Rebekah Lodge #77 for a many years. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, an excellent cook and a fierce card player. Her quick wit and good sense of humor will never be forgotten. Evelyn is survived by three loving daughters: Linda (Willie) Finney of Barryton, Paulette (Ron) DeVries of Big Rapids and Denise (Roger) Maeder of Lake. Beloved companion: Clark Dickenson of Florida, three sisters: Verna (Bill) Cornell of Barryton, Doris (Jack) Sowles of Barryton and Carol Shaffer of Big Rapids,Seven grandchildren, Nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leo Denslow and sister Ardlene Grove. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17th at the Barryton Church of Christ. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Memorial contributions in Evelyn's name may be given to the Nottawa Sherman Fire Department.
