Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and friend, Ethel May Hatton, age 89 of Mecosta, passed away with her family at her side, on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at her home. She was born on July 2, 1927 in Barryton to Henry and June (Dow) Waite. Ethel was a graduate of Chippewa Hills High School. She looked forward to working in her flower gardens every year, was an avid reader and enjoyed painting. Ethel touched the lives of many people. She not only took in stray animals, but was always available to offer anyone advice and lend a listening ear to those with problems. She was well loved and her door was never closed. Ethel was a mother and grandmother to many, and she leaves behind six children, Roger (Gretchen) Hatton of Mecosta, Bonnie (James) Shaw of Canadian Lakes, Linda (Almy) Moore of Edmore, Cindi (Kevin Doyle) Voss of Mecosta, David (Laurel Reed) Hatton Sr. and David (Bobbi Shaffer) Hatton Jr. both of Mecosta; five siblings, Floyd (Pat) Waite, Earl (Carmen) Waite, Daniel (Sharma Alexander) Waite, Henry Waite and Lila (Robert) Stanley; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren (with one on the way) and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who hold the memories they have close to their hearts. Ethel was preceded in death by: her parents, Henry and June; an infant son, William; and siblings, Stanley Waite, Dolly Gibbons and Lyle Waite. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with the family greeting friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at East Fork Cemetery in Barryton. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Daggett Funeral Home.
