Ester Jean (Streeter) Bareham: June 7, 1929 ~ January 29, 2015 Virgil Lee Bareham: October 21, 1925 ~ April 20, 2015 Virgil Lee Bareham was born in Suttons Bay, MI, to Samuel George and Clarabell (Sodergren) Bareham. He was predeceased by two older half-sisters, Jean Youker and Dorothy McIntosh. Virgil (aka Swede) graduated high school in Suttons Bay. He enlisted in the naval reserve in WWII and served in the Pacific. After completing his service, he attended CMU, where he graduated with a teaching degree and his wife, Ester. Ester Jean Streeter was born in Gilford, MI, to Stanley and Eleanor (Yokuty) Streeter. She was predeceased by four younger siblings, Margaret Willis, Bobby, Marvin and Stanley Streeter. She is survived by her sister, Fern Young. Ester graduated from high school in Vassar, MI, and college from CMU with a teaching degree, honors, and her husband, Virgil. Through their married lives, Virgil and Ester taught in numerous schools in Michigan and had six children. Virgil also coached a number of sports, specializing in varsity basketball. They retired from Chippewa Hills and last lived in Mt. Pleasant, only a few miles from where they started their lives together. Virgil and Ester are survived by their six children: Bryan, Linda Wernette, Sharon Robertson, Diane Hamilton, Joan Sadler, and Scott. They also have 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and were predeceased by 1 great-grandson. They leave a legacy of honor, dignity, fair play, honesty, kindness and love. A service will take place 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 at Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI). Memorial donations in Virgil and Ester's names can be made to O.A.T.S (P.O. Box 138 Clarkston, MI 48347 a handicap riding program), the American Cancer Society or Heartland Hospice.
