Ernest C. Cook, age 58, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 10, 2023. He was born in Grand Rapids on February 4, 1965, the son of the late Sidney and Evelyn (Dexter) Oates. Ernest graduated from Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School. He loved to cook and experiment with food to create new dishes. Ernest was a Christian and enjoyed attending various churches in the area. He liked to play basketball and shoot pool. Ernest was a fun-loving guy who always checked in on his family; he was a true big brother to the end. Ernest is survived by his three siblings, Eugene Cook, Evelyn Nieves, and Sidney (April) Oates; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cremation has taken place and Ernest will be laid to rest at Martiny Township Cemetery in Rodney. Memorial contributions may be made in Ernests name to Our Brothers Keeper Shelter.
