Erma B. Kutchinski, age 89 of Stanwood, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2016. She was born January 1, 1927 in Williamston, MI the daughter of Blandford and May (Wyrick) Allen. Erma graduated from Remus High School. She married Gordon "Jim" Kutchinski on January 25, 1946. Together they made their home in several different communities until settling in the Morley Stanwood area. As well as raising her family, Erma had a variety of jobs; she retired from Mid-Michigan Community Action Agency as a Green Thumb employee. Erma was a devout and active member of the Stanwood Free Methodist Church for over 30 years. She served as the choir leader, taught Sunday School and cooked for every church activity as needed. Erma loved her church, but she loved her family best, she is survived by her two daughters, Janice Aardema of Stanwood, Linda Fessler of Morley; three grandchildren, Terry (Dawn) Anderson of Stanwood, DWayne (Sonja) Aardema of Grand Rapids, Jamie (Katie) Aardema of Independence, KY; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, George (Carol) Allen of Wyoming, MI; six sisters, Mable Harshman of Rawlins, WY, Vivian (Norville) Landis of Montrose, Joan Hopkins of Holly, Ruth Fuss of Longmont, CO, Barbara (Keith) Ward of Rawlins, WY, Audrey Putnam of Shepherd; many nieces and nephews. Erma is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon "Jim" Kutchinski, a granddaughter, Tammy Sue Fegenbush, her beloved great-grandson, Jimmy McShane; three brothers, Harold, Marvin and Linden Allen and two sisters, Evelyn Eckert and Betty Moore. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Woods Free Methodist Church in Stanwood with Pastor Joe Martin officiating. Burial will be at the Stanwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, December 28th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
