Erick Tracy Doke Sr. of Big Rapids, 64, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

Born on December 10, 1961 in Chicago, IL, to Lorenzo and Aleatha Doke, Erick spent many years with DTE, where he was known as a tireless worker. He was business-savvy and sharp as they come, with a gift for numbers that bordered on genius.

Yet what people will remember most is how he made them feel. Erick was funny, outgoing, and full of charisma. When he turned his attention your way, it felt like the sun was shining on you. He took pride in his style and always loved to look his best. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, a good card game, and, yes, a little shopping. Above all, he was generous. He was always there when someone needed him, and he was never happier than when he was spoiling his grandchildren.

Erick is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his children, Stacy Currie, Tina (Camron) McGarity, Lorenzo, Claudia Curry, and Ericka (Scott) Kline; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers, Charles (Carol) and Phillip; his sister, Elizabeth Hall; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Erick Jr.; his parents; his brothers, Lawrence and Horace; and his brother-in-law, Douglas Hall.

A funeral service celebrating Erick’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home, 13985 Northland Drive, Big Rapids, Michigan.
