Obituary

Emma Caroline Mock, age 90, died peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Metron Nursing Home. She faced her illness with amazingly good spirits and was loved by all who cared for her. She was born to Harley P. and Marguerite C. Stevens on September 2, 1919 in Marine City, MI. Emma graduated from Dearborn High School in 1938. Emma and her husband Dick moved to Dearborn Township; together they built their home and raised three daughters. Emma's primary vocation was that of wife and mother, however, she had worked part time in various positions. Emma enjoyed gardening and crafts of all kinds, especially crocheting and camping. She was a Girl Scout Leader and Neighborhood Chairperson and in 1990 received an award for her 40 years of service. Emma had an adventurous spirit and at the age of 72 she was taken for a motorcycle ride by her grandson, Eric. Emma loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, from an early age and as an expression of that love and commitment she was baptized by immersion at the age of 85 at the Church of God in Big Rapids, MI. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Delbert Earl Filer and her second husband, Richard Gordon Mock. Emma is survived by her three daughters, Marguerite Filer Wolfram, Muriel Filer Gilbert and Marie-Elaina Mock Larabee; eight grandchildren, Daniel Wolfram, Elaine Price, Cynthia Seybold, Eric Gunderson, Hagen Gunderson, Dana Staniewicz, Karen Gunderson, Kelda Gunderson, Kate Kosmits and Kelly Larabee; fifteen great-grandchildren, Andrea Wolfram, Emily Wolfram, Justin Wolfram, Dylan Wolfram, Jessica Meyers, Shaunna Seybold, Kyle Seybold, Emma Gunderson, Isabel Gunderson, Celeste Gunderson, Hunter Gunderson, Daniel Staniewicz, Alaina Staniewicz, Erica Gunderson and Dane Gunderson.
