Emma A. (Hollenbeck) Merrifield-Reynolds, age 96 of Stanwood, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at her home. She was born June 29, 1914 in Stanwood, the daughter of Giles "William" and Maude (Waterman) Hollenbeck. In 1934 Emma married Archie Merrifield. He preceded her in death in 1987. In 1992 Emma remarried to Keith Reynolds and made their home in Stanwood. Emma was a faithful Christian and attended several Methodist churches in the area. Throughout her life she lived on a farm and enjoyed the duties of being a farmer's housewife. Emma was part of a big family and loved spending time with them all very much. She is survived by her loving husband Keith Reynolds; daughter Lois (Charles) Dawson-Sullivan; sister Wilma Beak; 4 grandchildren, Deborah, Mark, and Amy Dawson of Lake City, FL and Gail Dawson of Stanwood; 9 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her husband Archie Merrifield; infant daughter Carolyn Sue Merrifield; 4 brothers, Kaywood, Bill, Preston, and Alton; 4 sisters, Delma, Marvis, Doris, and Leah. Funeral services for Emma will take place 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Lynn Winans officiating. Burial will be at the Stanwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Emma's name may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
